About us

The Cardinal Divas of SC is the first and only majorette team at the University of Southern California. The team was created by Princess Isis Lang in 2022. The team quickly gained national press and attention, receiving support from celebrities like Saweetie. The Cardinal Divas have been featured in press outlets such as The Washington Post, Teen Vogue, Ebony, Essence, and more. The team has also made appearances on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Sports Center, and have performed at The Hollywood Bowl.

Majorette is a style of dance originated at HBCUs that brings jazz, Western African, and ballet aesthetics together. Now, we are bringing that culture and history to USC with pride and passion. Our mission is to promote the art of majorette dance and inspire young women to pursue their passion for dance. We are committed to this mission no matter what. Through it all, The Cardinal Divas of SC fight on!

ABOUT PRINCESS ISIS LANG

Princess Isis is a senior studying Musical Theater with the BFA program at the University of Southern California. She is from Chicago, Illinois and started her majorette journey in 4th grade when she joined the Proviso East High School's Pirateers team. The team coach saw Princess Isis dance at the studio where she studied ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and modern styles. The Pirateer's coach was so impressed with Princess Isis' skill that she invited her to join the team. After coming to USC, Princess Isis looked for a dance or spirit team to join but found that none of them fit her identity as a dancer or as a Black woman. It was 2020 and with the national conversation surrounding diversity and inclusion, Princess Isis felt there was a lot of talk but a lack of action. As a freshman during a remote year, she decided to take matters into her own hands and create a majorette team showcasing Black talent and dance. After a long process, The Cardinal Divas of SC made their debut in 2022.
